The Brockport Golden Eagles men’s and women’s track and field programs are looking to come back stronger than ever for the 2017 outdoor season. Last year, the men’s team finished fourth in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. The women’s team came in a close second and are looking for their chance to take the title.
The men’s squad will be looking for strong performances from its top returners to lead the pack in the new season.
Junior sprinter Kevin Jones posted a sixth place finish in the 60-meter dash at the indoor conference meet and junior Kyle Cohen was an indoor national qualifier in pole vault.
Both are looking to parlay their indoor success outdoors.
On the women’s squad junior Marissa Gosdeck is a two time indoor national qualifier in the heptathlon and Victoire Kothor was this year’s runner up at the indoor conference championships in the shot put. Kothor also set the new school record of 13.60 meters.
Senior thrower Jon Rogers, an All-American shot put thrower who placed third at the indoor national meet, will look to defend his outdoor conference championship in the event.
The team will also feature newcomer freshman sprinter Molly Scarpello, who placed sixth in the 60-meter dash indoors and will look to have similar results at the outdoor conference level.
The season will begin with the the Jim Taylor Invitational, hosted by Susquehanna University on March 25.
